• President of Pakistan is the Chancellor of the University.

The University was established in 1401 A.H (1980 A.D) and was awarded charter in 1985 through an Act of Parliament in order to implement a resolution of the Islamic Summit Conference.

• Three major libraries: Central Library, IRI, Shariah Academy and Dawah Academy Libraries having combined collection of over 0.3 million books. In addition to journals and periodicals etc.
• The University has a fleet of around 40 buses to provide transportation facility to male and female students separately all over Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Taxila areas.
